The first three prompts for #junkjournalweekly are: aquamarine, envelope and honesty. In this weeks journal challenge, I used my envelope punch board from We R Memory Keepers to create my envelope using mixed media paper. I added some color to my mixed media paper using some blue watercolor, which blended with my aquamarine page design.
The prompts for the second week are: green, clover and wish. I had a lot of fun with these prompts. They tied in with St. Patrick's Day with the clover and green. I centered most of my spread around the green and clover. Not shown in the picture but in the vellum bag, I have a copy of a vintage Easter card that has a picture of a wishing well. I plan on using the vellum bag to hold cards with journal entries of wishes and dreams.
As you can see in both pictures, I have an overall bee theme going through this journal. Beekeeping is a new interest of mine, so I plan on documenting fun facts and information about bees that I learn throughout the year. It's another fun way to include current interests in journaling to keep it interesting!
I embossed some small butterflies on the vellum bag to give it a bit of texture and nicer appearance. I share how I used my Sizzix machine to do this and show how I created my page spread in this video.
Journaling can be a lot of fun. I encourage you to set aside a little time each week to have fun in your journal. Any type of journal is fine. There are many blank journals, notebooks etc. on the market. You don't have to purchase one. You can use any notebook you have lying around the house. There are endless ways of using junk mail to create a journal. Have fun and personalize your journal to meet your own needs and tastes. Whether it's a writing, art, junk or collage journal, make a decision to start journaling! Join in our challenge and #junkjournalweekly!
